The University Innovation Fellows (UIF) program trains students as change agents who work to enhance the innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem within higher education institutions around the world. University Innovation Fellows is a program of the Hasso Plattner School of Design (d.school) at Stanford University.
The program was originally cultivated as an initiative of the National Center for Engineering Pathways to Innovation (Epicenter), which was funded by the National Science Foundation and directed managed by Stanford University and VentureWell (2011 – 2016). What started as an initiative called Student Ambassadors underwent numerous iterations and enhancements until program leaders developed an immersive training and a multi-campus community of practice that equips students with the knowledge, skills, and mindsets to act as strategic thinkers and change agents.
With external evaluation as a requirement of NSF funding, the Epicenter team engaged the services of Dr. Alan Peterfreund from SageFox Consulting Group, to provide ongoing assessment and feedback towards better understanding the results of the University Innovation Fellow’s program and factors that may increase its impact.
