Teaching and Learning Studio Dubai
April 24-27, 2017
University of Dubai, United Arab Emirates
This workshop for higher education faculty in the United Arab Emirates helped participants take their teaching of innovation and entrepreneurship to the next level. During the four-day immersive workshop, 28 faculty members applied design thinking and levers for designing and facilitating learning experiences.
This workshop is part of a program run by the Stanford Center for Professional Development. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and prime minister of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Emir of Dubai, declared 2015 as the country’s Year of Innovation. The UAE’s Ministry of Education worked with Stanford University to create 3-year proposal to increase innovation and entrepreneurship education in UAE’s universities. To that end, the Stanford Center for Professional Development created a program revolving around a Fundamentals of Innovation and Entrepreneurship Course for UAE undergraduate students. The program also consists of in-person and virtual coaching for UAE faculty. The Teaching and Learning Studio workshop is one of these in-person experiences for faculty.
